Mark your calendars and plan to join in the festivities at the Heritage Inn International Balloon Festival which runs from September 23 to September 27, 2015. Currently there are 27 balloons registered. This is the 3rd year for this event and it is growing every year.
The Canadian Hot Air Balloon Championship is being held in conjunction with this event and the winner will be eligible to compete in the World Hot Air Balloon Championships to be held in Saga, Japan in November 2016.
The committee is looking for volunteers to serve as crew members for visiting pilots, measuring teams, crowd control, etc. If you are willing and able please contact the organizing committee. (Info on event FaceBook page) Volunteers are especially needed for week days. What better way to learn more about sport ballooning than participating in this event.
Ralph Klein Park, located on 84th St. and 144 Ave. SE is now a prohibited zone (PZ). Please do not attempt to land in this conservation area.
Rocky View County has a noise by-law that prohibits making any noise in a public park prior to 7:00 am weekdays and 9:00 am weekends and holidays. Since Langdon is located in Rocky View County this restriction applies to the park we use to launch our balloons in Langdon.
As we are playing in their backyard, please keep this bylaw in mind when planning your summer flying.

About 30 club members and friends met at the Chestermere Community Centre for our annual New Year’s Flight and Brunch. 6 Balloons flew late in the morning for gentle flight ending in and around Langdon. Pilots, passengers and crews then headed back to the CCC for a delicious hot brunch and of course the usual champagne toast. Thanks to Karalee Coleman for the photos.
